Two people injured in Sunday evening crash on Springfield Road

emslogoSunday, Aug. 17, 2014, 8 p.m. — Two people were injured Sunday evening in a three-vehicle crash at the entrance to Springhill subdivision on Springfield Road. The accident was reported at about 6 p.m., prompting a response by Bardstown Police and Nelson County EMS.  A black Mazda passenger car was rear-ended by a pickup truck pulling an enclosed trailer. The truck and one of the passenger cars involved in the crash skidded off the road and down an embankment.

The Bardstown Fire Department was called to the scene to help get injured patients out of their vehicles and up the embankment to EMS. A 44-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman were transported by EMS, both with complaints of back pain, to Flaget Memorial Hospital for treatment. One person refused transport by EMS. Springfield Road was shut down while the accident was cleaned up and traffic was routed around the accident via Pottershop Loop.
