One injured in two-vehicle accident on Burg Hill Wednesday afternoon

Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, 1 a.m. — One person suffered a severe hand injury Wednesday afternoon in a two vehicle accident on US 150, the Springfield Road on Burg Hill near the Washington County line. Nelson County EMS and Nelson County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the incident at 3:57 p.m. Wednesday. The accident closed the road for a time while police and EMS were on the scene. A medical helicopter was requested for the victim but the helicopters were unable to fly due to weather conditions.

EMS transported the male victim from the scene directly to University Hospital emergency room where a team from the Jewish Hospital Hand Center was waiting. The accident closed Springfield Road for a time and snarled traffic for nearly an hour.
