Obituary: Clarence Walford Murphy Sr., 67, Lebanon

Clarence Walford Murphy Sr., 67, of Lebanon, died peacefully at his residence Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, with his family by his side. He was born and lived in Lebanon where he was a third-generation family farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ruby White Murphy. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Elaine Murphy; two sons, Clarence Walford Murphy Jr., (Melissa) and William Chad Murphy Sr., (Lena), both of Lebanon; one daughter, Sarah Murphy of Bowling Green; one granddaughter; and five grandsons.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 235 S. Spalding Avenue, Lebanon, with burial in the church cemetery with the Rev. Bill Bowling as celebrant.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. with Dr. David B. Whitlock.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers are Louis Graves Jr., John Reed, Ken Couch, Joe Hickey Sr., Ames O’Nan, Jeff Porter, David Sandusky, Glen Lewis, Eddie Blandford, Lee Robinson, Terry Tatum, Gerald Hayes and Jimmy Smith.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations go to the St. Augustine School fund.

The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
