Obituary: Margaret ‘Marnie’ Swank Keesey, 83, of Athertonville, formerly of New Haven

Margaret “Marnie” Swank Keesey, 83, of Athertonville, formerly of New Haven, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at her home. She was born Oct. 28, 1930, in Westmoreland County, Penn. She was the daughter of the late Robert funeral_lilyNewton and Gertrude Golden McCuthen Swank. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in New Haven, and retired as the owner/operator of the Towne Cafe Restaurant in New Haven after 20 years of operation. She was a retired New Haven city commissioner who served for eight years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Robert “Gus” Keesey; and one brother, David “D.K.” Swank.

Survivors include three sons, Newt Keesey and Robert “Bob” Keesey, both of New Haven, and Charlie Keesey (Marian) of Lexington; one brother, Robert M. Swank of Apollo, Penn.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at the William R. Rust Funeral Home Chapel in New Haven with the Rev. Troy Overton, pastor of St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, officiating. Burial is in the Riverview cemetery in New Haven.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, and 8:30-11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at the funeral home.

The William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 N. Main St., New Haven, is in charge of arrangements.
