Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, 11:30 a.m. — A Bardstown man and his adult son remain missing after their car was found abandoned near Mount Hood, Oregon last Friday.

A silver 2012 four-door Kia Rio belonging to John Kevin Wood, 59, was found on Highway 35 south of Mount Hood. Wood’s adult son, Jason Anthony Wood, 32, is believed to be traveling with him.

According to KPTV TV in Portland, Ore., Wood’s car was parked and abandoned for about a week approximately a half mile north of the Dog River Trailhead in Hood River County, Oregon. That is about eight miles south of the town of Mount Hood.

The Oregon Department of Transportation reported the abandoned car to police, and an Oregon State Police trooper checked it on last Friday. The trooper noticed hiking equipment inside the car, which was unusual for someone to leave behind if they were hiking.
