Indiana couple arrested Tuesday after alleged Murphy Oil gas drive-off

ENLARGE_01YNN_SS_ArrestTuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, 3:25 p.m. — Two Indiana residents were arrested Tuesday morning following a complaint from Murphy USA that a customer drove away without paying the gas they pumped.

Bardstown Police received a call at 6:14 Tuesday morning from the Murphy USA located at the Bardstown Walmart that a man driving a gold van without a license plate drove off without paying. Employees reported the vehicle had done so on two previous occasions.

Officers Tim Simpson and Troy Logsdon responded to the call. One of the officers spotted a 2005 Buick van without a visible license plate. The driver, James Paul White, 29, of Scottsburg Ind., was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking under $500; violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO; possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. An outstanding warrant from Jefferson County was also served on White.

The woman traveling with White, Jessica White, 27, of Austin, Ind., was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The pair were lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
