Councilman Joe Buckman withdraws as candidate for re-election

Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, 2:30 p.m. — Bardstown City Councilman Joe Buckman withdrew Monday as a candidate for re-election, according to Nelson County Clerk Elaine Filiatreau’s office. The move leaves 10 candidates seeking one of the six Bardstown City Council seats.

The ballots have already been printed, and Buckman’s name will appear on the Nov. 4 ballot in the non-partisan city council race. According to the county clerk’s office, the last date to withdraw from a race and not be on the ballot was Aug. 25.
Buckman was seeking his third two-year council term. His term expires Dec. 31.
At the time this story was posted, Buckman had not yet returned a phone call for comment.
The 10 remaining candidates for city council are Francis Lydian, Roland Williams, Bobby Simpson, Robert Augustine, Kecia Copeland, Richard Nest, Jimmy Arnold, Bill Buckman, Terry Wayne “T.W.” Cantrell, and Fred Hagan. Lydian, Williams and Simpson are incumbents; Hagan previously served on the council up until two years ago and seeks to return.
