New Haven man indicted for series of lawn mower, utility trailer thefts
Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, 11:50 a.m. — A New Haven man was named in eight indictments handed down by a Nelson Circuit Court grand jury on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
Russell D. Jeffires, 29, of New Haven, was indicted after a police investigation of a series of thefts of lawn mowing equipment and utility trailers that took place in the Bardstown area during July and August.
Bail was set at $25,000 on seven of the indictments. An eighth indictment charging Jeffires with three counts of burglary of a Bardstown outdoor equipment retailer set bail at $50,000.
An indictment is an accusation and all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
