Bardstown man indicted on drug trafficking, gun possession charges

Thursday, April 21, 2011, 8:30 p.m. — A Bardstown man, William Joseph Coulter, 33, was indicted Wednesday, April 20, 2011, on charges of first-degree trafficking in controlled substances; possession of handgun by convicted felon (2 counts); possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of marijuana; first-degree persistent felony offender.
According to the indictment, on April 5, 2011, Coulter allegedly possessed methamphetamine with the intent to sell or transfer it. He was also allegedly in possession of two handguns — a Llama .45 caliber semi-automatic and a Raven .25 semi-automatic.
The trafficking in controlled substances and possession of a handgun by convicted felony charges are both Class C felonies, punishable by a maximum of 10 years in prison.
Bail was set at $50,000 cash only push conditions. Coulter is set for arraignment in Nelson Circuit Court on May 5, 2011.
