Driver arrested after fender-bender becomes hit-and-run accident

Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, 11 a.m. — The driver of a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am registered to an owner in Frankfort was arrested bardstownpolicepatchFriday afternoon after he was involved in an accident on the Bluegrass Parkway and fled the scene.

Bardstown Police were called to a reported non-injury accident in the area of the parkway’s 25 mile marker at about 5 p.m. Friday While waiting for police to arrive, the driver who reported the accident told dispatchers the other driver drove off from the accident scene when he approached the car to exchange insurance information.

Assistant Chief Major Ray Lewis pursued the fleeing vehicle and stopped it on the parkway near the Hardin-Nelson county line. The man was arrested at the scene and lodged in the Nelson County Jail. The car was turned over to a passenger.
