Firefighters called for electrical fire in KBF tent area at Spalding Hall

Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, 12:20 p.m. — An electrical fire Friday night in one of the temporary electric service boxes temporarily darkened most of the Kentucky Bourbon Festival booths on the lawn at Spalding Hall.
The Bardstown Fire Department was dispatched at 8:47 p.m. to the Spalding Hall lawn for an electrical fire in a temporary electric service box that was reported near the kettle corn tent. A police officer on scene knocked the fire down with a fire extinguisher, though he reported the power box continue to smolder and arc. A city utility representative responded to the scene to cut power to the temporary service. Firefighters were on the scene for about 30 minutes.
