Firefighters called Sunday morning to search for missing teenager

Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, 2 p.m. — The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office investigated the disappearance early Sunday morning of a 16-year-old girl who disappeared from her home in the 400 block of J.R. Ballard Lane after playing hide-and-seek in a hay field.
Deputies were dispatched to the scene at 12:23 a.m. Sunday morning to locate the teen, who had been missing for several hours. At about 1 a.m., police requested the Bardstown Fire Department to assist with a search of the area. Firefighters requested the county emergency management to respond as well. Firefighters searched the area until 5 a.m. but were unable to locate the girl. A sheriff’s office detective reported Monday morning the teen was located and reunited with her parents.
