Chaplin man indicted on charge of attempting to bribe state trooper

Thursday, April 21, 2011, 9 p.m. — A Chaplin man has been indicted on a charge of attempting to bribe a public servant.

James M. Curtsinger, 25, was indicted Wednesday by a Nelson County grand jury for allegedly offering Kentucky State Police trooper Jonathan Downs money in exchange for Downs not arresting him on April 10, 2011.

The charge is a Class C felony punishable by a maximum of 10 years in prison. Bail was set at $5000 cash only plus conditions. Curtsinger is set for arraignment in Nelson Circuit Court on May 5, 2011.
