Ceremony to mark Revolutionary War soldier’s grave set for Oct. 5

The Cox’s Station Chapter, NSDAR and the Governor Isaac Shelby Chapter, NSSAR will mark the grave of Revolutionary War soldier, John McGee, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, at the John McGee Family Cemetery, 527 Sullivan Lane, Bardstown.  Lt. John McGee served with General George Rogers Clark in the Virginia Militia. The marking will include both DAR and SAR plaques.  His new veteran’s marker will also be unveiled by family-member representatives from DAR, SAR and C.A.R.  The public is invited to attend the marking which will include a black powder musket salute, the SAR in their colonial uniforms, floral tributes, and a flag-folding ceremony. Please bring a lawn chair.
