Two people file as write-in candidates for jailer, Bloomfiled council races

Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, 10:34 p.m. — Two people have filed so far as write-in candidates in the November General Election according to the Nelson County Clerk’s Office.
Westridge Court resident Michael P. Johnson filed as a write-in candidate for Nelson County Jailer on Friday. Decatur Avenue resident Sue Ann Case filed Wednesday morning as a write-in candidate for the Bloomfield City Council.
According to Nelson County Clerk Elaine Filiatreau, the deadline to file as a write-in candidates is 4 p.m. Oct. 24, 2014. Those wishing to file as write-in candidates must file prior to the deadline. Write-in votes for candidates who have not filed in advance will not be counted.
Filiatreau reminds those interested in filing as a write-in candidate that there are filing fees required with the filing. The names of write-in candidates do not appear on the ballot, nor will the names of write-in candidates be published or posted at the polls.
The deadline to register to vote is Monday, Oct. 6.
