Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, 1 a.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department was called Thursday afternoon to respond to an active fire alarm at Mill Creek Baptist Church, 431 Poplar Flat Road. Firefighters received the call at 3:55 p.m. The first units on scene reported that there was light smoke in a room in the church’s multipurpose building. After an investigation, firefighters determined an underground power line had been hit by a contractor digging to install a fence. The alarm was reset and repairs to the church maintenance personnel were to arrange for repairs.
