Pedestrian dies after struck by pickup truck Tuesday on Jones Avenue

Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014, 1:30 p.m. — Bardstown Police are investigating an accident Tuesday night involving a pedestrian who was struck by a pickup truck and later died of his injuries.
At about 8:20 Tuesday evening, police and Nelson County EMS were dispatched to the area of the tennis courts on Jones Avenue for report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Police found that a 45-year-old white male was struck and injured by a 1999 Dodge Ram pickup. The injured man was transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital, and later flown to University Hospital, where he later died from head injuries.
Police have not released the name of the man who died or the driver of the pickup truck.
A police press release states that the pedestrian apparently stepped in front of the truck while it was traveling north on Jones Avenue. The pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and walking in a dimly lit area. No charges have been filed, but police continue to investigate the accident.
