JOSEPH COY “JOEY” SMITH

Joseph Coy “Joey” Smith, Jr., 45, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, at University Hospital in Louisville.He was born July 2, 1969, in Louisville. He was an employee of Joe C. Smith Heating and Air Conditioning and attended St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Adolphus and Teresa Cecil Hagan; and his paternal grandparents, Emanuel and Mary Helen Newton Smith.

He is survived by his father, Joseph Coy Smith, Sr. (Shelby) of Bardstown; his mother, Jane Hagan Smith (Bud) of Louisville; one sister, Elizabeth Ann Riggle (Bob) of Madison, Ala.; three stepsisters, Joe Ann Keeling (Darrell) and Tracy Keeling (Roy), both of Taylorsville, and Gretchen Smith of Austin, Texas; one stepbrother, Erik Smith of Austin, Texas; two nephews, Matthew Riggle and Michael Riggle, both of Madison, Alal; great-nieces and nephews, Clay Chappell, Anna Grace, Cooper and Carson Lee Keeling; and several aunts and uncles.

The funeral is 12:30 pm Saturday, October 18, 2014, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in the St. Rose Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Hammer will officiate.

Visitation is 2–8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, and 9 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, at Barlow Funeral Home.
