Obituary: Gerald Thomas ‘Tommy’ Harris, 67, Gleanings
Gerald Thomas “Tommy” Harris, 67, of Gleanings, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014. He was born and raised in New Hope by his late parents, Sherman and Rosa Shofner Harris. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Vietnam Era. He attended Levelwoods Methodist Church in LaRue County. He retired from Gates Corporation in Elizabethtown after 33-1/2 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Rolie Harris, Floyd Harris, Bill Harris, William Harris, Edward Harris and Lupie Harris.
He is survived by two daughters, Sherry Harris Carter of New Hope and Tammy Feese of Campbellsville; one son, Kevin Harris (Teri) of New Hope; two sisters, Thelma Ruley of Louisville and Aline Donahue of New Haven; two brothers, Gary “Rusty” Harris of New Haven and Robert “Mib” Harris of Elizabethtown; two grandchildren, Ryan Feese and Austin Harris; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, and 11 a.m.- p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial is in the Rolling Fork Baptist Church Cemetery in Gleanings in LaRue County.
The Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven is in charge of arrangements.
