Nelson Circuit Court Indictments–Oct. 15, 2014

Editor’s Note: The indictment of a person by a grand jury or otherwise is an accusation only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

indictmentThursday, Oct. 17, 2014 – The following people were indicted by a Nelson County grand jury on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014. They are scheduled for arraignment Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, unless otherwise indicated.

14-CR-257. Robert A. Wathen, 44, Bardstown, receiving stolen property.

According to the indictment, between April 1 and Aug. 15, 2014, Wathen allegedly received, retained or disposed of tools that belonged to another individual knowing they were stolen, with a value of more than $500 but less than $10,000. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-258. Prentiss Dawan Hobbs, 31, Bardstown, wanton endangerment, first-degree; criminal mischief, first-degree; persistent felony offender, first-degree.

According to the indictment, on Aug. 7, 2014, Hobbs alleged engaged in conduct that created substantial danger of death or physical injury when he rammed his vehicle into one belonging to another person, causing damage of $1,000 or more. The indictment cites Hobbs’ prior felony convictions as the basis for the persistent felony offender charge. Bail was set at $50,000 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-259. Robert A. Wathen, 44, Bardstown, receiving stolen property.

According to the indictment, between June 9 and July 31, 2014, Wathen allegedly received, retained or disposed of jewelry and tools belonging to two other individuals knowing or having reason to believe it was stolen with a value of more than $500 but less than $10,000. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-260. Johnny Dean Johnson, 50, Bardstown, receiving stolen property and complicity to the same; persistent felony offender, first-degree.

According to the indictment, between Nov. 1, 2013 and Jan. 15, 2014, Johnson — working alone or in concert with Scott A. Ward — allegedly received, retained or disposed of a four-year-old Walking Quarter Horse belonging to another person while knowing or having reason to believe it was stolen and having a value of more than $500 but less than $10,000. The indictment cites Johnson’s prior felony convictions as the basis for the persistent felony offender charge. Bail was set at $100,000 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-261. Michael N. Crume, 26, Bardstown, burglary, second-degree; receiving stolen property; persistent felony offender, first-degree.

According to the indictment, on Aug. 22, 2014, Crume allegedly entered another person’s residence with the intent to commit a crime and received, retained or disposed of two 42-inch TVs, an XBox 360, an iPad, two Wii’s and games belonging to someone else, having a value of $500 or more but less than $10,000. The indictment cites Crume’s prior felony convictions as the basis for the persistent felony offender conviction. Bail was set at $50,000 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-262. James P. White, 49, Scottsburg, Ind., possession of a controlled substance, first-degree (methamphetamine) and complicity to the same; possession of drug paraphernalia and complicity to the same; possession of marijuana and complicity to the same; violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO; theft by unlawful taking under $500; receiving stolen property and complicity to the same.

According to the indictment, on Sept. 16, 2014, White — acting alone or in concert with Jessica N. White — was allegedly found in possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and marijuana and also received, retained or disposed of batteries and cables belonging to another person knowing it was stolen. The indictment also alleges White took items belonging to Murphy Oil having a value of less than $500 and was in violation of a Kentucky protective order. Bail was set at $20,000 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-263. Trevor McKenzie Walls, 24, Bardstown, rape, first-degree, victim under 12; incest (2 counts).

According to the indictment, between Jan. 1, 2012 and Aug. 25, 2014, Walls allegedly had sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 12 whom he knew to be a family member. Bail was set at $100,000 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-264. Jessica N. White, 3/6/87, Austin, Ind., possession of a controlled substance, first-degree (methamphetamine) and complicity to the same; possession of drug paraphernalia and complicity to the same; possession of marijuana and complicity to the same; receiving stolen property and complicity to the same.

According to the indictment, on Sept. 16, 2014, White — acting alone or in concert with James P. White — was allegedly found in possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and marijuana and also received, retained or disposed of batteries and cables belonging to another person knowing it was stolen. Bail was set at $20,000 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-265. Kenneth C. Sulzer, 54, Louisville, possession of a forged instrument, second-degree (2 counts).

According to the indictment, Sulzer allegedly possessed forged checks in the amounts of $900 and $1100 and passed them to Wilson & Muir Bank knowing it was forged with the intent to defraud or deceive. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-266. Chad Edward Tipton, 27, Bardstown, manufacturing methamphetamine and complicity to the same; persistent felony offender, second-degree.

According to the indictment, on Oct. 7, 2014, Tipton — acting alone or in concert with Kevin Ray Barnes and Thanial Dee Williams — allegedly manufactured methamphetamine. The indictment cites Tipton’s prior felony conviction as the basis for the persistent felony offender charge. Bail was set at $25,000 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-267. Thomas Chesser, 39, Chaplin, possession of a controlled substance, first-degree (heroin); possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the indictment, on Sept. 25, 2014, Chesser allegedly possessed heroin and drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-268. Nicole Lynn Baum, 34, Bardstown, trafficking in controlled substances, first-degree, less than 2 grams methamphetamine and complicity to the same; possession of drug paraphernalia and complicity to the same; controlled substance endangerment to a child, fourth-degree.

According to the indictment, on Oct. 7, 2014, Baum — acting alone or in concert with Thanial Dee Williams, possessed more than 2 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to sell or transfer it, possessed drug paraphernalia, and permitted a child to be present in a home during the manufacturer of methamphetamine. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-269.  Amanda L. Blanford, 35, Bardstown, possession of a forged instrument, second-degree (4 counts); persistent felony offender, second-degree.

According to the indictment, on Sept 17-19, 2014, Blanford allegedly possessed four forged checks totaling $510 and passed them to Fort Knox Federal Credit Union knowing the checks were forged and with the intent to defraud or deceive. The indictment cites Blanford’s prior felony conviction as the basis for the persistent felony offender charge. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-270. Kevin Ray Barnes, 29, New Haven, manufacturing methamphetamine and complicity to the same; possession of drug paraphernalia and complicity to the same; possession of marijuana.

According to the indictment, on Oct. 7, 2014, Barnes — acting alone or in concert with Chad Edward Tipton and Thanial Dee Williams — allegedly manufactured methamphetamine and possessed drug paraphernalia. The indictment alleges Barnes was found in possession of marijuana. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-271. Darin Grieshaber, 38, Bardstown, assault, second-degree.

According to the indictment, on Aug. 15, 2014, Grieshaber allegedly kicked an individual in the head several times causing serious physical injury. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-272. Thanial Dee Williams,33, Bardstown, manufacturing methamphetamine and complicity to the same; trafficking in controlled substances, first-degree, less than 2 grams methamphetamine and complicity to the same; possession of a controlled substance, first-degree, methamphetamine and complicity to the same; possession of drug paraphernalia and complicity to the same.

According to the indictment, on Oct. 7, 2014, Williams — acting alone or in concert with Chad Edward Tipton and Kevin Ray Barnes, possessed drug paraphernalia, and manufactured and possessed methamphetamine with the intent to sell or transfer it. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.
