Obituary: James Dillon Shoffner, 27, Lexington, formerly of New Haven
James Dillon Shoffner, 27, of Lexington, formerly of New Haven, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. His eight years in the service included one tour in Iraq and two tours in Afghanistan. He had most recently enrolled in the University of Kentucky, where he was a full-time student.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Patrick “Crazy Horse” Shoffner; one brother, Joseph David “Joe David” Shoffner; his maternal grandfather, David Ball; and his paternal grandparents, Oscar and Priscilla Shoffner.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Ann “Bev” Gamble Shoffner; one son, Mason Ray Shoffner; one brother, Jonathan Ball; his mother, Gail Ball; his stepmother, Joanie Shoffner; his grandparents, Ray and Margie Miles; and many, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
The funeral is noon Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven with burial in the St. Francis of Xavier Cemetery in Raywick with full military honors.
