DAVID MARTIN THOMPSON

David Martin Thompson, 68, of Louisville, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, at the VA Medical Center in Louisville. He was born Jan. 6, 1946, in Marion County. He was a retired employee of Kingbrook Window and Door Company in Shelbyville and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Effie Mae Thompson; and one brother, Lawrence Thompson.

Survivors include his wife, Mary O’Bryan Thompson; three daughters, Edith Clay (Dave) of Jacksonville, Fla., Tracy Clark (Kyle) and Amanda Kreutzer (Matt), both of Shepherdsville; two sons, Keith Thompson and Joe Thompson, both of Louisville; seven sisters, Edith Miles (Marion) of St. Francis, Mae Mattingly (Frank) of Lebanon, Patsy Gottschalk (Clay) of Paducah, Mary Margaret Mattingly (Cooper) of Loretto, Celestine Kirchhoff (Fred) of Lawrenceburg, Karen Thompson of Las Vegas and Theresa Woods (Glenn) of Henryville; five brothers, John Thompson (Nadine) of Lawrenceburg, Terry Thompson (Dina) of St. Francis, Dennis Thompson (Clara) of Plano, Texas, Joe Thompson of Lexington and Maurice Thompson (Maggie) of Eastern Kentucky; and 10 grandchildren, John Thompson, Dave Thompson, Bryan Thompson, Alex Clay, James Clay, Paige Clark, Sara Clark, Catherine Clark, Katie Jenkins and Lauren Kreutzer.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2014, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 6785 Highway 52, St. Francis with the Rev. Bill Bowling officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. by Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
