Obituary: Eugene Franklin ‘Gene’ Breeding, 74, Springfield
Eugene Franklin “Gene” Breeding, 74, of Springfield, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, at his home. He was born Nov. 11, 1939, in Washington County. He was a former equipment operator with the Washington County Road Department and he was a member of the Rainy Day Band.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Ida Mae Cheatam Breeding; two sons, Rollin Breeding and infant Eric Eugene Breeding; three sisters, Effie Simpson, Beaulah Coulter and Lorene Tingle; three brothers, Homer, Cecil and Elwood Breeding; and one grandson, Cory Ruley.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Ruby Nalley Breeding; three daughters, Donna Mattingly (Todd) of Cox’s Creek, Lisa Newton (Keith) of Manton and Ginger Rutledge of Frankfort; four sons, Arnold Graves, Jr. (Sherry) of Loretto, Joe Graves (Rita) of Lebanon, Kerry Breeding of Frankfort and Timmy Breeding of Shelbyville; one sister, Wanita McMichael of Springfield; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with burial in the Holy Rosary Cemetery at Manton. Deacon Arnold Downs will officiate.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at the funeral home with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Pallbearers are grandsons, Casey Graves, Ryan Newton, Jamie Ruley, Bradley Graves, Tyler Sapp and T. J. Breeding.
Honorary pallbearers are granddaughters, Sabrina Newton, Angel Graves, Savana McDonald, Breann Ruley, Tiffany Sapp, Jenna Ruley, Whitney Rutledge and Cassidy Rutledge.
The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
