Magistrates Sam Hutchins, left, and Keith Metcalfe look over bills and transfers prior to voting to approve them Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014.

Thursday, Nov. 5, 2014, 2:30 p.m. — Delayed one day by the election, Nelson Fiscal Court’s first meeting of November was brief and to-the-point.

The court gave final approval to three rezoning requests. The first was a request from Alvin King to rezone 2.496 acres on KY 245 from A-1 agriculture to R-1A residential. The court also approved a request from Francis and Colleen Yates to rezone 1.358 acres on New Haven Road from A-1 to R-1A, and a request from Charles E. Piles Jr., Bonne Piles and Tony Hagan to rezone 26.956 acres in the Poplar Flat area from A-1 agriculture to R-1A residential.

All three zoning requests had earlier received the approval of the Joint City-County Planning Commission.

ROAD PAVING. Jim Lemieux reported that most of the paving repairs the county road crew intended to do this season had been completed. The state allows asphalt paving up until the end of November given proper weather conditions. The magistrates were asked to let Lemieux know if they had any last-minute paving repair requests before cold weather settles in.

EMS REPORT. EMS Director Joe Prewitt reported to fiscal court the county’s communications tower on Caney Fork Road has been taken down and removed. The new communications tower near the Nelson County Industrial Park is up and operational.
