Obituary: Joyce Smith, 78, Bardstown

JOYCE SMITH

Joyce Smith, 78, of Bardstown, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. She was born Nov. 29, 1935, in Washington County. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jetson and Lillie Cheser Lyddane; one sister, Dorothy Nutgrass; and one brother, Rudolph Lyddane.

She is survived by her husband, Bert “Bummie” Smith of Bardstown;
one daughter, Lisa Smith Thompson of Bardstown; one son, Bertram “Lang” Smith III of Bardstown; three sisters, Betty Graham of Nazareth, Libby Ballard and Fanny Greer both of Bardstown; one brother, Larry Lyddane of Bardstown; and five grandchildren, Natalie Smith, Lance Smith, Nicholas Smith, Jeffrey Thompson, and Samie Thompson.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto Cathedral with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Joseph Batcheldor will officiate.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014, and 9-10:15 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at Barlow Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions will go towards Masses or St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
