Caucus elects Sen. Jimmy Higdon elected as the new Majority Whip

Tuesday, Nov. 25 2014, 10 p.m. — State Sen. Jimmy Higdon (R-Lebanon) was elected Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, the new State Senate Majority Whip by the Senate Majority Caucus today.
The Majority Whip is the chief vote counter in the Caucus and communicates the Caucus position on key issues to the Senate President and other members of Leadership.
“It is an honor to serve and I am humbled that my colleagues have selected me for this opportunity,” Higdon said. “This is an exciting time to be in leadership.”
Higdon has served in the Kentucky Senate since 2009, representing the 14th Senatorial District which includes Casey, Marion, Nelson, and Spencer counties, along with a portion of Jefferson County. Prior to being elected to the senate, Higdon served in the Kentucky House from 2003 – 2009.
Higdon will officially take office at the beginning of the 2015 Session of the Kentucky General Assembly.
