MARY ANN BEAM

Mary Ann Beam Hurst, 83, of Bardstown, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, at Flaget Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born Jan. 12, 1931, in Bardstown. She enjoyed traveling and collecting antiques with her husband. She was a member of Bardstown Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Thomas Spalding Hurst (1989); her parents, John H. and Nell Bradbury Beam; one sister, Margaret Mae Woodard Guthrie; two brothers, Henry Lee Woodard, and Jack Beam; one son-in-law, Bill Schreiber; and a dear friend, Lois Adams.

The family would like to send their love and gratitude to the caregivers that took care of mother in her home for the past year, which includes: granddaughters, the staff of Flaget Hospital, and Hospice of Nelson County.

She is survived by three daughters, Sallie (Bill) Schreiber, Beth (Darrell) Hawkins and Peggy (Denny) Greenwell; two sons, Tommie (Sheila) Hurst and Brad Hurst; a very dear niece, Aimee Lee Guthrie Mangum; a very dear nephew, Jack Guthrie; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in the St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014, and 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may go to the American Cancer Society, Bardstown Baptist Church, or the donor’s favorite charity.

The Barlow Funeral Home in Bardstown is in charge of arrangements.
