Obituary: Laurita Mattingly Ballard, 88, formerly of Holy Cross
Laurita Mattingly Ballard, 88, of Louisville, formerly of Holy Cross, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014, at Norton Suburban Hospital.
She was born Sept. 26, 1926, in Holy Cross to the late Albert Sydney and Gertrude Clayton Medley. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Lawrence Mattingly; her second husband, Francis Augustine Ballard; two infant children, David and Mary Jean Ballard; two sisters, Alice Sullivan and Beatrice Hughes; and one brother, William A. “Bot” Medley.
Survivors include her three daughters, Janice Luckett of Cox’s Creek, Linda Foster (Joe) of Central City, Sheila Grimm (Art) of Louisville; three sons, Larry Mattingly (Rosemary) of Valley Station, Tommy Mattingly (Diane) and John Ballard (Denise) all of Louisville; 16 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 3560 North St. Francis Road in Loretto, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Emil Kandor will officiate.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 6 p.m. by Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
