Obituary: Joseph Ronald ‘Joey’ Lyvers Jr., 47, Bardstown

Joseph Ronald “Joey” Lyvers Jr., 47, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, at University of Louisville Hospital. funeral_flowerHe was born Jan. 30, 1967, in Marion County to Joseph R. and Diane Thompson Lyvers Sr. He was an employee of David Newton Construction. He loved NASCAR and rooting for the No. 2 Miller Lite car. He was a member of the Catholic faith.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gilbert and Mary Ellen Thompson, and Vernie and Dorothy Lyvers.

He is survived by two sons, Quinton Lyvers and Zachary Lyvers, both of Bardstown; his parents, Ron and Diane Thompson Lyvers of Bardstown; two sisters, Karen Cleary (Tim) of Elizabethtown and Ann Phillips of LaGrange; and two brothers, Jeff Lyvers (Cheryl) and Gil Lyvers (Katie), both of Bardstown.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto Cathedral with the Rev. David Cockson officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2014,  at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown. A prayer service is 4 p.m.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions for Masses.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
