Louisville man indicted for allegedly passing bogus $50 bills at local retailers

Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, 12:41 a.m. — A Louisville man was indicted Wednesday by a Nelson Circuit Court grand jury for passing counterfeit $50 bills last month at several retail stores in Bardstown.
Jad G. Farris, 33, was indicted on charges of possession of a forged instrument, first-degree and theft by unlawful taking or disposition.
According to the indictment, on Oct. 26, 2014, Farris allegedly passed forged $50 bills to Shoe Sensation, Arby’s, Peebles, Family Dollar, Five Star and Dollar Tree retail stores in Bardstown. In the transactions, Farris unlawfully took the retailer’s merchandise in exchange for the bogus bills. Bail was set at $50,000 cash only, plus conditions. Farris will be arraigned on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014.
