Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, 2:15 p.m. — The First Federal Saving Bank at 315 North Third Street was robbed at gunpoint at 9:18 Friday morning.
Nelson County Dispatch received a panic hold-up alarm from the bank at 9:27 a.m., and dispatchers confirmed by telephone that a tall black man wearing a tan, Carhart-type jacket with hoodie entered the bank, showed a handgun and demanded cash. The man had a grey bandana or scarf covering his face and was wearing what appeared to be white hospital-type gloves.
The man took an undisclosed amount of money, exited the bank’s rear door and fled on foot. Security video revealed the man was also wearing faded blue jeans with a hole in the area of the right thigh and tan-colored or dirty work boots.
