Obituary: Frances Jeanette Reed, 75, Bardstown

FRANCES JEANETTE REED

Frances Jeanette Reed, 75, of Bardstown, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at her home. She was born in Washington County on Feb. 26, 1939, to the late Joseph Earl and Ann Elizabeth Filiatreau Newton. She was the first female manager for Kentucky Fried Chicken and retired after 27 years of service. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Glenn Reed; one daughter, Cynthia Joan Greenwell; and three sisters, Virginia Norsworthy, Margaret Ann Carey and Velma Newton.

She is survived by one daughter, Sharon ”Sherry” (Perry) Pile of Louisville; two sons, Philip “Nicky” (Cindy) Reed and Anthony “Tony” (Tracy) Reed, both of Bardstown; one son-in-law, Steve Greenwell of Bardstown; one sister, Norma Jean (Francis) Smith of Springfield; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery at Fredericktown. The Rev. Chris Rhodes will be officiating.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, and 9:30-11 a.m. at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home. A prayer service is 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown is in charge of arrangements.
