fireshieldMonday, Dec 22, 2014, 10 a.m. — A 2000 Toyota Camry was consumed by flames following a two-vehicle accident Sunday evening in the eastbound lanes of the Bluegrass Parkway near the 25 mile marker.

A Bardstown Police officer who had been out removing debris from the parkway at about 8:30 p.m. drove up on the accident involving a pickup truck driven by Jason Ferrell, 41, of Saginag, Texas, and the Camry, driven by Evangel Miller, 29, of Honey Grove, Pa. According to a Bardstown Police press release, the 2012 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling westbound when it lost a wheel that crossed the median and struck the Camry in the eastbound lanes.

The Camry suffered major damage and caught fire following the crash. The Bardstown Fire Department was called, and by the time firefighters arrived, the car was fully involved in flames. The fire shut down the parkway’s eastbound lanes for about 40 minutes. No one was injured in the accident.
