One person dead in early morning single-vehicle crash on Monks Road

Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, 1:45 a.m.(Updated 2:45 a.m.) — The female driver of a passenger vehicle was killed early Thursday morning in a single-vehicle crash in the 200 block of Monks Road. Nelson County EMS, police and the Rolling Fork Fire Department were dispatched to the scene at about 12:45 a.m. for an injury accident with an occupant trapped in the vehicle. According to police, the victim’s car left the roadway, went airborne and struck a utility pole. First-responders who arrived at site requested the Nelson County coroner who pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
