Obituary: Florence Elizabeth Lancaster ‘Lib’ Hamilton, 95, Lebanon
Florence Elizabeth Lancaster “Lib” Hamilton, 95, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014. She was born Dec. 22, 1919, in Lebanon. She was a 1938 graduate of St. Augustine High School and attended Nazareth College. She was a lifelong member of St. Augustine Church, where she was the parish secretary for a number of years, she was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Christian Mothers, Spring View Auxiliary and served as a 4-H Leader.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph B. Hamilton; her parents, Eugene Joseph and Florence Roney Lancaster; two sisters, Mahala Green and Frances Lancaster; and two brothers, Eugene “June” Lancaster and Ben Lancaster.
Survivors include five daughters, Mary Kay (Leon) Mayo of Harrodsburg, Mahala (Pat) Mattingly and Virginia “Sugar” Hamilton, both of Lebanon, Beth (Ed) Lorenz of Newport and Jo Marie (Ed) Lammy of Danville; one son, Bill (Susan) Hamilton of Bardstown; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial was 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with the Rev. Bill Bowling officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Augustine Catholic School or Hosparus of Central Kentucky.
The Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon was in charge of arrangements.
