Obituary: Carmel Faye Vowels Dones, 95, Boston
Carmel Faye Vowels Dones, 95, of Boston, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, at Helmwood Healthcare in Elizabethtown. She was a homemaker and a member of Boston Christian Church. She was born June 14, 1919, in Boston, the daughter of the late Rodman “Doc” and Clara Irene Wimpsett Vowels.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Carl “Bill” Dones; one son, Vernia L. “Vernie” Dones; three sisters, Margie Fogle, Lucille Ezell and Evelyn Dones; three brothers, Dink Vowels, Pip Vowels and Floyd Vowels; and two granddaughters, Toni Ballard and Debbie West.
Survivors include six daughters, Hazel (Randell) Jackson and Wanda (Harvey) Hayden, both of Boston, Juanita Rogers and Ann (John) Avis, both of Bardstown, O’Dell (Roy) Cobb of Elizabethtown and Linda (Kenny) Greenwell of Middletown; two sons, Michael (Connie) Dones of Boston and Donnie (Faye) Dones of Bardstown; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, at the Boston Christian Church in Boston with Chaplain Terry Troutman officiating.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, and 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, at the William R. Rust Funeral Home Boston Chapel.
