Flooding to continue along Rolling Fork; flash flood watch continues

Monday, April 25, 2011, 2 p.m. — The Rolling Fork River near Boston remains under a flood warning. The National Weather Service reported that the Rolling Fork was at 41.1 feet, 6.1 feet over flood stage at 10:30 a.m. Monday, and is expected to continue to rise to near 42.5 feet by early Tuesday afternoon. The river is expected to fall below flood  stage by midnight on Thursday.

Moderate flooding is expected to occur.

The entire county remains under a flash flood watch through 8 p.m. Tuesday. Storms with heavy rain that may pass through the area later today and tonight will create flash flooding conditions near bridges and creeks. Rainfall of 1/2-inch is expected, though up to 2 inches of rain is possible.
