Nelson Co. EMS, police respond to reported Kurtz Ave. drug overdose

emslogoSaturday, Jan. 24, 2015, 1:30 a.m. — A 27-year-old man was taken to Flaget Memorial Hospital late Friday after an apparent heroin overdose. Bardstown Police and EMS were called to a home in the 800 block of Kurtz Avenue in Maple Hill at about 11:35 Friday night for a report of a possible drug overdose. Police arrived to find the man unresponsive and began CPR while EMS squads traveled to the scene, slowed by the hazardous road conditions. Once on scene, EMTs successfully administered Narcan, an opiate antidote, and transported the man to Flaget Memorial Hospital for evaluation and treatment.
