EMS locates driver who walked away from his crashed vehicle

Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, 2:30 p.m. — Nelson County EMS, the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office and the Bardstown Fire Department responded early Saturday morning to help locate a man believed to have been injured and was on foot after his vehicle ran off Poplar Flat Road near its intersection with Springfield Road.
Police firefighters and EMS were dispatched at about 3:10 a.m. after one of the driver’s parents called 911 after receiving a call from the son that he had an accident on Poplar Flat Road. First-responders were advised the driver may be on foot in the woods. Police located the vehicle and confirmed the driver was gone, and firefighters arrived to begin a search.
The man was located about an hour later by an EMS squad who found the man on foot in a corn field trying to find his way to his home nearby. The man did not require treatment by EMS.
