Obituary: Gregory Allen Young, 56, Bardstown
Gregory Allen Young, 56, of Bardstown, died Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born May 16, 1958, in Bardstown. He was formerly employed by the old T.G. & Y. and later J.J. Newberry when it was owned by McCrory. He also former worked at Intertec. He was a master artisan who began building and flying model airplanes in his youth, a hobby he enjoyed for many years. He later turned his talents to scroll saw woodworking, creating fascinating and intricate pieces of artwork. He was a country music fan who loved car shows. He was a member of the Catholic faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Harlan Young.
He is survived by his mother, Edna Mae Wimsett Young of Bardstown; one sister, Donna Ransdell of Boston; one brother, Jim Young of Louisville; four nephews; four great-nephews; and his companion, Libbey Biven of Bardstown.
The Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in the church cemetery at a later date.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, and 9-10:15 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, at the Barlow Funeral Home with a prayer service Wednesday evening.
