JAMES ROBERT “BOBBY” NEWTON

James Robert “Bobby” Newton, 72, of Manton, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, at his home. He was born April 21, 1942, in Manton. He and his family operated Manton Grocery in Manton for more than 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Irvin and Thelma Laura Blanford Newton; one sister, Martha Hamilton; three brothers, Martin Vannie, Joseph Derlin and Thomas B. “Blank” Newton.

Survivors include one brother, John Irvin Newton of Louisville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

His Mass of Christian Burial is 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 6964 Cissellville Road, Manton, with burial in the church cemetery with the Rev. Matt Hardesty officiating.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, at Mattingly Funeral Home, in Loretto with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
