HANSFORD CULL LANHAM

Hansford Cull Lanham, 92, of Fairdale, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, at Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville. He was born Feb. 8, 1922, in Marion County. He was a retired employee of Gamble Brothers in Louisville and a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church in Fairdale. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded two bronze service stars.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna G. Miles Lanham; his parents, Brisco and Mary Lois Phillips Lanham; two sons, Larry Lanham and Joe Lanham.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Broughton of Jeffersonville, Ind. and Cathy Coy (Frank Franzell) of Fairdale; two sons, Charles Lanham of Mount Washington and Leonard Lanham (Judith) of Shepherdsville; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a number of great-great grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, St. Francis with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Emil Kandor will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. by Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
