Obituary: Mary Evelyn Baker, 79, Chaplin

Mary Evelyn Baker, 79, of Chaplin, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, at her home. She was born Oct. 3, 1935, in Chaplin to the late Edward and Elizabeth Satterly Holt. She was a former childcare provider, an funeral_flowerAvon representative, and a lifelong member of the Chaplin Christian Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and pianist.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Ernest Lee Holt, Virgil Holt, Carl Holt and Harold Holt.

She is survived by her husband, Tommy Baker; two sons, Brent Baker (Lisa) of Taylorsville, and Todd Baker (Bobbie) of Bloomfield; three grandchildren, Hannah Baker, Breisa Baker, and Josh Allen; three special cousins, Tina Cox, Sharaya Cox and Levi Cox; and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

The funeral is noon Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, at the Chaplin Christian Church with Bro. Kenny Dotson, Bro. Ernie Perry, and Bro. Harry Hebert officiating. Burial is in the Highview Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, and 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contribution to the Chaplin Christian Church.

The Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
