Mt. Washington contractor indicted for failing to complete construction jobs

Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, 3 p.m. — A Bullitt County contractor was indicted Wednesday by a Nelson County grand jury for taking money to do construction jobs and failing to do the jobs.

1_indictmentKevin A. Carter, 43, of Mount Washington, was indicted for his alleged failure to build a building after a Bardstown man paid him $19,000, and a retaining wall he was paid $3,000 to build for a woman in Cox’s Creek.

The charges are Class C and Class D felonies. A Class C felony is punishable by not less than five years but not more than 10 years in prison. A Class D felony is punishable by one to five years in prison. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus conditions on each charge.

Carter is set for arrangement on Thursday, Feb. 19 in Nelson Circuit Court.

Carter has been charged for similar crimes elsewhere in Kentucky.

He was indicted on Oct. 6, 2014 by a Grayson County grand jury for failing to complete a pole barn for which he was paid $9,100 to build. In September 2014, Carter was indicted in Jefferson County for failing to complete construction on a roof on a home for which he was paid $10,350.
