Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 — Four juveniles admitted to police they were responsible for starting a brush fire on the Maywood golf course Saturday afternoon about 1:17 p.m.
The Bardstown Fire Department was called out Saturday afternoon for a reported fire located between the 7th and 9th holes on the course. The fire involved an acre to an acre-and-a-half of brush and woods, firefighters reported. Fighting the fire was complicated by its location on the course and the fact fighters could not bring their trucks closer to the fire’s location.
The Northeast Nelson Fire Department was called for assistance in fighting the fire, but their response was canceled when firefighters gained control of the fire.
Firefighters were on the scene for about an hour.
