Obituary: Effie Hill, 93, Chaplin

Effie Hill, 93, of Chaplin, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, at her home. She was born Oct. 8, 1921, in funeral_flowerWashington County to the late Fletcher and Margaret Hamilton Carrico. She was a former employee of Cowden Manufacturing in Springfield, a homemaker, a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene “Buddy” Hill; one son, Harry Hill; and her parents.

She is survived by three daughters, Roxie Hill of Springfield, Brenda Coulter (Russell) of Chaplin, and Patty Cull (Melvin) of Chaplin; two sons, Billy Hill (Barbara) of Bardstown and Michael Hill of Chaplin; one daughter-in-law, Lois Hill of Chaplin; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank her special caregivers, Wanda Coulter, Russ Coulter, and Karen Noe.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Fairfield. with the Rev. Bill Hammer celebrant, and Joe Carrico. Burial is in the Highview Cemetery at Chaplin.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015 and 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with a prayer service at 5 p.m. Friday.

The Houghlin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
