Obituary: James Henry Tonge, 63, Bardstown

JAMES HENRY TONGE

James Henry Tonge, 63, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. He was a native Washington County and a retired employee for the City of Bardstown. He was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church but had been attending the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness at Bardstown.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lynn Stone; one son, Brian O’Neil; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Maddox; and three grandchildren, Jaylin Tonge, Jaden Tonge and Rashawna VanCleave.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Perkins-Curry Tonge; one daughter, Shirley Marie VanCleave of Lebanon; three sons, Michael Perkins (Jena) and James R. Tonge (Melissa), both of Bardstown, and Jerome Dixon of Lebanon; one sister, Catherine Tonge of Bardstown; two brothers, Joseph Charles (Frances) Tonge of Junction City, Kansas and John Tonge of Illinois; 14 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.

The funeral was 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery with Ted Witherspoon officiating.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
