Bardstown Police officer injured while apprehending fleeing suspect

Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015 3 a.m. — A 33-year-old Bardstown Police officer was injured early Sunday police_badgemorning while pursuing a male subject who fled from Mammy’s Kitchen restaurant in downtown Bardstown.

Officers attempting to locate a male subject at 62 Bar and Grill were told the man could be found at Mammy’s Kitchen, 116 W. Stephen Foster Ave. Officers arrived at the restaurant at about 12:50 a.m., and when they entered the building the subject fled the restaurant in the direction of the Jailer’s Inn. The officer pursuing the man was involved in an altercation while apprehending the subject and the officer injured his left shoulder.

The man was arrested by police and lodged in the Nelson County Jail. Nelson County EMS transported the officer to Flaget Memorial Hospital with complaints of upper left shoulder and arm pain.
