Obituary: Emma Jean McCubbins, 80, Bardstown

Emma Jean McCubbins, 80, of Bardstown, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015, at Life Care of mccubbinsBardstown. She was born July 19, 1934, to the late Howard and Lillian Rogers Gilmore. She was a retired office aid for the National Council Teachers of English in Champagne, Ill. She was a member of the Roman Catholic faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph William McCubbins; one son, Robert Carricato; and one sister, Berniece Peer.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas Patrick Carricato of White Rock, S.C., David K. McCubbins of Irmo, S.C.; one stepdaughter, Jean McCubbins Stahl of Gifford, Ill.,; two stepsons, Joseph William McCubbins of Thomasboro, Ill. and Patrick Michael McCubbins of Irmo, S.C.; one sister, Leota Rinner of Ramsey, Ind.; several grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with burial in Bethany Cemetery.

Visitation is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015, at the funeral home.

The family has requested that memorial contributions go to the donor’s favorite food bank.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
