Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015, 6:30 p.m. — The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the woman who drowned Tuesday at a home on Whitesides Road.
Nancy Ann Dugan, 56, was identified as the victim.
According to the sheriff’s office, the state medical examiner’s office will conduct an autopsy Wednesday morning to determine the cause of death. Authorities said Tuesday that foul play is not suspected in the death.
Nelson County EMS, Bardstown Fire, the Northeast Nelson Fire Department and police were dispatched at just after 3 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a woman who had fallen into a well while retrieving water at a home on Whitesides Road.
Louisville media reported Monday evening that the home did not have running water, and the woman was getting water from the well at the time of the accident.
Poor road conditions hampered first-responders initial response; firefighters used four-wheel drive trucks to access the driveway and the home.
